Homemade Blueberry Roll-ups make for a perfect snack—healthy, naturally sweet, and delightfully chewy. Loved by both kids and the young at heart, these treats melt in your mouth with every bite!

We were gifted twenty pounds of blueberries—a bounty we were determined to make the most of on the homestead, preserving every bit of that sweet summer flavor.
After freezing a portion, I set some aside for fresh eating, Blueberry Jam, Sourdough Blueberry Muffins, sharing with friends, and dehydrating. Having confidently dried plenty of fruits, vegetables, and herbs before, I expected this project to go off without a hitch. Yet after 18 hours, the blueberries were still plump. Ugh!
But, that’s the beautiful thing about failure—it can lead to discovery. I had done everything right, yet the blueberries wouldn’t dry. In moments like this, frustration could easily take over. Instead of giving in, I chose to see the opportunity to grow and try something new: fruit leather, or homemade fruit roll-ups. And judging by how quickly the roll-ups disappeared, I think my family is glad I did, too!
what’s to love about homemade blueberry roll-ups
Store-bought fruit roll-ups often contain corn syrup and artificial food dyes like Red 40, Yellow 5 & 6, and Blue 1—ingredients known to trigger allergic reactions and behavioral issues in children. These homemade Blueberry Fruit Roll-Ups are a healthier alternative, made with just three simple, wholesome ingredients: fruit, honey, and vanilla.
With homemade fruit roll-ups, the possibilities are endless! This recipe can be easily customized with any of your favorite fruits—just follow the instructions as written. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try blending different fruits for a flavorful twist.

let’s get to it: how to make blueberry roll-ups
Prepare blueberries: Blanch washed blueberries for 30 seconds.
Make blueberry puree: Blend blueberries in a food processor until they reach a smooth, even consistency. Add raw honey and vanilla to puree. Pulse for a few seconds at time until all ingredients are well combined.
Dehydrate blueberry puree: Lightly grease a solid dehydrating tray with avocado oil or coconut oil. Note: If your dehydrator doesn’t include a solid tray, you can line a regular tray with a silicone mat or parchment paper as an alternative. Spread 1 cup of puree to 9×11 dehydrator tray, spread out evenly to an 1/8″ – 1/4″ thick. Place tray in dehydrator and set for 8 hours at 135°F.
Recipe Tip! 💡Gently tap your tray on the counter to level out the puree and release any trapped air bubbles for a smooth finish
Test the fruit leather: Gently peel it away from the tray. If it lifts in one smooth piece without tearing, it’s ready! If it rips, it needs more time—return it to the dehydrator for an additional hour at 135°F, repeating as needed until perfect.
Make roll-ups: Once the fruit leather is ready, carefully peel it away from the tray and place it on a sheet of parchment paper to prevent sticking. Note: While you may notice that I used plastic wrap, I highly recommend using parchment paper. However, if you’re like me and don’t have any on hand at the moment, plastic wrap will work just fine. Lastly, roll the leather tightly, then use a sharp knife or clean scissors to cut it into 1-inch rolls.
