A delightful taste of summer that has me so smitten! This Summer Fruit Salad is effortlessly simple to make and perfect as a refreshing side dish, dessert, or snack.

This recipe quickly became a favorite in our home—something we regularly enjoy for breakfast or lunch during the summer and early fall, when the fruit is at its peak.
But, for the first time, I was asked to bring fruit salad for a picnic. Sure… my family loves it, but could my heart handle the disappointment from anyone other than my family, especially acquaintances?
Thankfully, an internal crisis was averted! The fruit salad was a big hit with both kids and adults. Guests enjoyed it, took some home, and even asked for the recipe. I’d say this dish has officially earned a spot in everyone’s recipe book!
what’s to love about this recipe
Change it up! While I love this particular fruit combination, the possibilities for this salad are endless. Swap out the watermelon, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, and grapes for whatever your family enjoys, what you have on hand, or what’s in season at your local farmer’s market or grocery store. Customize it to suit those little taste buds perfectly!

It’s refreshing on a hot summer day. There is nothing like cold, crisp fruit on a bright, sunny summer day. I mean, maybe with the exception of freezer pops and fresh squeezed lemonade, but I digress. We spend many of our summer days poolside (we love this one) or our back patio, enjoying this fruit salad in the thick of a hot, hot summer. It is vibrant, refreshing and a great source of water!
Recipe Tip! 💡 Select an assortment of shapes, colors, and textures when choosing fresh fruit to create a vibrant fruit salad.

gather your ingredients
- Fruit – I used watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, peaches and grapes but you can use any fruit! Cherries, Pineapple, Bananas, Honey Dew, Cantaloupe or Kiwi would be great choices.

- Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice – Bottled lime juice works, too!
- Raw Honey
let’s get to it: how to make summer fruit salad
- Prepare. Wash, cut and dice your ingredients.
- Stir. In a large serving bowl, stir together the watermelon, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, grapes and mint.
- Make the dressing. Add raw honey and freshly squeezed lime juice to a mason jar, put the lid on tightly and shake it up until the dressing is fully combined. If you don’t have a mason jar, of course you can whisk these ingredients in a small bowl.
- Combine. Add Honey Lime Dressing to the fruit and stir until well combined.
- Store. Cover and refrigerate your fruit salad until ready to serve. When ready to enjoy, give the fruit salad a good stir.
top recipe questions
what is the best way to serve fruit salad?
We love enjoying fruit salad in so many ways—whether as a side, a snack, a dessert, or even atop a Dutch Baby Puffed Pancake. It would also be delightful served over creamy yogurt!
can i use frozen fruit?
I don’t recommend using frozen fruit, and here’s why—once thawed, most fruit turns mushy. While I have nothing against frozen fruit (it’s great for smoothies and baking), when it comes to a crisp, refreshing salad, fresh is always best!
